Work 4 Peace,Hold All Life Sacred,Eliminate Violence! I am on my mobile version of the door-to-door, going town-to-town holding readings/gatherings/discussions of my book "But What Can I Do?" This is my often neglected blog mostly about my travels since 9/11 as I engage in dialogue and actions. It is steaming with my opinions, insights, analyses toward that end of holding all life sacred, dismantling the empire and eliminating violence while creating the society we want ALL to thrive in

No more memorials saturday

We’ve decided to go to the Eastern Market today before heading to the Mall. The energy in D.C. has become very marked by motorcycles & nationalists – not all but too many pro-war folks. We are so happy to have a group of cp’ers from Long Island join us for the weekend!

We have made a banner: “Our troops are dying for your support” – the downing street memo folks’ slogan & off we go to the weekend market that is right around the corner.

Ann has brought the pink duct tape & black magic marker & is getting people to wear the number of dead soldiers: 2460; I’ve made a flyer with our tentative weekend schedule on one side, the “Divine Strake” info on the other side.

We have drums, real faces of war, and the banner. Most people are happy to see us, take the number & flyers willingly, and thank us for standing up and being here. We also hand out flyers about the upcoming neighborhood vigil – several vendors say they’re local & will come to the vigil.

The crowd seems to be about half tourists, half D.C.ers – after spending a couple hours here, we decide to continue to the Capitol Building & begin our “No more Memorials” reading the names of the dead.

The heat is oppressive, but we carry on!
