i don't believe the problem is bush is stupid enough to do
anything - i believe the problem is we the people of the united states
are 'privileged' enough to not stop our lives (busy getting all the
material things that are made possible due to bush's wars) and put all
our energy into stopping this war & preventing the next war.
the bottom line for me is that bush - and all his criminal pals - could not do one thing without our compliance.
i know we are all on the same page & our hearts are definitely in the right place.
when
the women from iraq came to speak with us, one of the most glaring,
most painful things we were made immediately aware of is that we indeed
have that 'luxury' of choosing to stop our daily lives, that privilege
we choose every day to NOT put our daily lives on hold - even though our
refusal is causing the death & destruction of much life on our
planet, especially in iraq right now.
these women spoke about their daily lives - they had no choice whether they wanted to stop or put on hold.
again,
i urge us to SERIOUSLY consider what it would really, really cost us to
put on lives on hold for a month. and at the same time to SERIOUSLY
consider what we are really willing to sacrifice to bring peace to our
country & our world. because, contrary to what bush says, i do
believe it will
take great sacrifice on each of our parts to really end this war - and
prevent the next one.
fran, i just can't let
this point go - but hopefully, that's my 2 cents for awhile. peace &
love, (and hope to see you all in d.c.!!!!) sam
