Work 4 Peace,Hold All Life Sacred,Eliminate Violence! I am on my mobile version of the door-to-door, going town-to-town holding readings/gatherings/discussions of my book "But What Can I Do?" This is my often neglected blog mostly about my travels since 9/11 as I engage in dialogue and actions. It is steaming with my opinions, insights, analyses toward that end of holding all life sacred, dismantling the empire and eliminating violence while creating the society we want ALL to thrive in

Broken heart

Do I really need to write a post about all the times in my life my heart has broken?

Maybe.

It is beautiful here in Alpine Country. I usually have the picnic table area above the river and next to the library wi-fi all to myself but today is "volunteer appreciation" day at the library. I have helped set up a couple of canopies so I am invited to share the food.

Anna is here, with her daughter Ari, who, Anna informs me, is the only child in her school that has a peace symbol on her back-pack.

Anna likes my truck. As does Ari. Ari gives me a stick she has been playing with & tells me I can use it to spread peace.

An older white woman joins us & sits next to me, asking about the fire. Yesterday there was a fire in Gardnerville, the closest "big" town from here. She makes a statement about people supposed to be stewards of the earth, telling me it's our job not to destroy it.

May antenna springs up, even tho I've determined I don't have the energy to engage, "As in bombing the earth?" I have to ask.

My friend who lives here tells me she is the outcast, people who live here in 'town' are rabid republicans, pro-war, pro-hunting, pro-bikers, pro-domination of the animals & land here.

The old white woman assures me we don't want to talk about that subject as she claims the forest service needs to be clearing brush to prevent fires - and spraying for bugs.

I cannot engage while my heart is broken. I hurriedly get back to writing, ignoring her.
