Work 4 Peace,Hold All Life Sacred,Eliminate Violence! I am on my mobile version of the door-to-door, going town-to-town holding readings/gatherings/discussions of my book "But What Can I Do?" This is my often neglected blog mostly about my travels since 9/11 as I engage in dialogue and actions. It is steaming with my opinions, insights, analyses toward that end of holding all life sacred, dismantling the empire and eliminating violence while creating the society we want ALL to thrive in

Double Springs AGAIN! grrrrr

I am pissed today. I run outta propane. GRRRRRR

This means I have to head into Double Springs AGAIN!~! Yesterday I was wishing and hoping I needn't return to this town, didn't need to give these folks any of my hard-earned cash, but here I am, heading out again.

It is still frigid cold - I don't want to be able to be without the ability to heat up water, etc. Of course, I could do it the old way, over the fire but I'm also saving firewood, just in case Jasi is coming to visit. We'll have a HUGE fire!

So the propane tank is at the fuckin chevron station. I approach a middle-aged white man who has hopped out of his new, huge 4 door gunpowder grey pickup truck to operate the propane hose.

He asks me about my truck, attempting in the most ignorant way to read the spanish. He's never heard of Monsanto but claims to love round-up!

He tells me we probably agree though, about growing organic - and maybe even Monsanto.

Then he moves on to the back of my truck and mumbles: you want to destroy the police, the military, all men? What an idea, I think silently, as I inform him about his interesting way of reading the truck's message.

He swiftly declares his "anti-government" stance; if that's what any of my truck means, as he casts doubtful and pitying glances toward me. I say like what do you mean, anti-military? or anti-corporation?

He snaps he's pro-military and we get into the 'who's gonna defend our country', ya mean who's gonna defend our corporations' right to steal other people's stuff, 9/11, and all that discussion.

He tells me his son is due home from Afghanistan this weekend. I confirm his son hasn't been shot or physically injured, has been in the military for 9 years, and this is his first tour of 'duty' in Afghanistan.

I want to ask him if he even knows where Afghanistan is, if he knows any truth about Afghanistan, if he can explain to me how he imagines the richest, most armed men in the world occupying a country that is next to the poorest country in the world.

I want to tell him, as he takes out the pretty red white & blue colored poster board praising and welcoming his son back home, that his son will never be the same.

But then I know he will figure that out soon enough.
