Work 4 Peace,Hold All Life Sacred,Eliminate Violence! I am on my mobile version of the door-to-door, going town-to-town holding readings/gatherings/discussions of my book "But What Can I Do?" This is my often neglected blog mostly about my travels since 9/11 as I engage in dialogue and actions. It is steaming with my opinions, insights, analyses toward that end of holding all life sacred, dismantling the empire and eliminating violence while creating the society we want ALL to thrive in

Lake Charles

The Louisiana welcome center is gorgeous and quiet. After spending the rest of the quiet, peaceful nite here, I get up early and explore the paths through the bayou’s and around the lake. I don’t see any alligators but plenty of little lizard-type creatures eating lots of mosquitoes I hope!

I have until 5pm to make it to Scott, about 70 miles from Lake Charles so I head to Lake Charles, don my bathing suit, and spend the day on the beach & swimming in the warmest tea-colored water of Lake Charles, and continue reading Patricia Cornwell’s new book & I’m still in heaven!

Jasi & I swam here in June on our way to California, but it was late at night. Now, as then, I am almost the only one on the beach & certainly the only one in the water.

I wonder if the water in contaminated – what an idiotic thing to wonder in this country & this day & age. I passed an oil refinery just on the other side (probably texas side) of the bridge & there are a lot of industrial-looking buildings around here.

But the water is warm & inviting, the bottom sand so no squishy yucky lake bed to disturb me, at least close to the shore.

By 3 I need to head out to make it to Scott on time! I can’t wait to fill up again.
