Collateral Damage

The young man, who is definitely not white, definitely bi-racial but I'm not sure if he's mixed with Asian or Latino, tells me he hates the term collateral damage.

We are talking of the drones - he enthusiastically supports the use of drones in order to protect US American life, knows that some 'collateral damage' occurs, but sadly, this can't be helped.

I tell him if he hates the term "collateral damage" then don't use it.

He turns big, beautiful brown eyes to me as he asks, palms upward and extended, "but what can I use then?"

I tell him to try "human beings".
