In the dog house.... again!
He eats his breakfast and lunch, naps, and is ready to eat again by the time his mother gets home. I meet a friend of Tessie's who is helping her make food for Jasi and provide herbs too.
We all sit down at the table to eat together. Tessie insists we hold hands and she says grace. Not a short grace, but a very long grace, maybe ceremonial even, positive re-enforcement about how delicious this restricted food is going to be when we taste it, how strong it will make us.
Usually I can tolerate quietly, eyes open, breathing calmly, other peoples' need to say grace. I myself prefer to date Grace, hold Grace, love Grace - forget saying grace! grrrrrr
Tonite, waiting for Tess to wrap it up, I catch Jasi's eye across the little table as his mother continues to lengthen her prayer. He cocks his head, rolls his eyes, & then gives me a big wink! I cannot contain my sputtering laughter.
Tessie's ensuing scowl and accusatory lecture makes me even more giddy and explosive snorts escape my clenched lips. The harder I try to stop myself from laughing, the less controlled my laughter is - and the angrier my daughter gets.
Oy vey. I should have excused myself before the praying began. When has my daughter EVER seen me pray before a meal or anytime? I am NOT a pray-er and she knows it.
But I am trying to patch our relationship. This is not the way, my silly laughter on top of Tessie's sillier-to-me praying. grrrrrrrrrr
