Work 4 Peace,Hold All Life Sacred,Eliminate Violence! I am on my mobile version of the door-to-door, going town-to-town holding readings/gatherings/discussions of my book "But What Can I Do?" This is my often neglected blog mostly about my travels since 9/11 as I engage in dialogue and actions. It is steaming with my opinions, insights, analyses toward that end of holding all life sacred, dismantling the empire and eliminating violence while creating the society we want ALL to thrive in

Unequivalent Stairs...and Floors

One of the most challenging things about both Ghana and Nigeria’s buildings is the uneven stairs. I don’t know if you can see from this picture but sometimes a stair or several in the same block of stairs are lower or higher than the ones that come before of after.

It is an awakening to realize how my body has adjusted to assume stairs are equal heights from each other.

So extra special care has to be taken to walk up or down stairways, never assuming the next step is the same height as the first step

Also the floor levels from one room to another, or from the hallway into the room. No matter how many times I stub my toes or lurch off an uneven threshold or even floor levels in the same room, I forget that there's a difference between each room so I have to step up or down to go into the bathroom, etc.
