Union "leaders", i.e. those
in top level paid positions, have not supported any 'strike' since the
beginning with our invasion of afghanistan up to and including nov 2nd,
2011.
I think we MUST
keep in mind the utterly pervasive, extremely detrimental
divide-and-conquer tactics of those in power who keep us separated,
fighting against each other, and our interests negated at best.
It
does not matter if the union 'leadership' - or the ALC - is supporting the strike or
not. The important thing is that this action happens, and happens in the
biggest, best way we can make it happen.
The
eyes of all occupiers, media, and all folks fighting for the end of
wars, the end of disparity of
resources, the end of the military and prison industrial complex, are
watching the west coast, waiting to see how many people are more
concerned about the above then they are about continuing business as
usual.
Isn't that the
bottom line of any protest? Is to STOP BUSINESS AS USUAL, and say "NO,
we will NOT tolerate another day of killing another human being", or
another day of suffering of another human being?
It
is never the people following their conscience and attempting to right
wrongs that cause "loss of jobs", or "economic hardships". It is the
intention of our forefathers in the creation of this country and every
one of it's institutions to ensure certain people have jobs that pay
certain wages, while others work enslaved.
It
is the SYSTEM that causes job loss and economic hardships. We have to
be vigilant and informed about the tools of the system, and guard with
all our might and awareness against those tools, especially
divide-and-conquer!
