I don't believe white people (should) have a monopoly on defining what is "violent"
I don't support 'violence' - nor do I believe white people should have the monopoly on defining what is "violent" altho this is presently part of white privilege.
Every 23 hours a black person is MURDERED by POLICE in our country. THIS is the violence we ALL should be out in the streets protesting and ending.
Pretend it was YOUR daughter who was murdered today. 23 hours ago. 46 hours ago. 69 hours ago.
What do you suggest is the "right" way to respond, to end police violence? And for me police and violence is redundant.
We live in a country where police are intentionally set up to be violent not just (but mostly) against women & men & children of color but poor whites also; where police are paid to shoot and kill to protect the ruling wealthy.
Just look at what the police wear. they are clothed in violence from their head gear, along down their bodies, hanging off their belts, to their steel-toed boots.
I deeply understand those fears. I heard indigenous people talk this past weekend about the dire need for us to overcome our fears of sacrificing our short term losses for the long term gains.
We are at the most opportune time right now in this country to take the steps that will either insure the long term survival of humans and life on this planet, or to not take those vital and necessary steps and contribute to the destruction of this sacred planet.
Racism, misogyny, destruction of the earth by our amerikkkan nitemare lifestyles where profit is valued over life MUST END! and we of all peoples and times on this earth are being presented with this opportunity.
Let's grab it like a mighty bat and swing it at injustice, at exploitation, at those forces destroying life!!!!
