I’m deep in my
camper, perched on the top bunk, organizing, when I hear a gaggle of elementary students walk by. One of
the youngsters, a boy about 8 or 9, imbues enthusiastically “I LOVE this truck!”
and I lean over to witness the entire group of about 6 boys (including one white child) stop and nod in agreement as another
boy claims “I’m SOOOO glad this truck parks here on my street!”
By the time I disentangle myself
enough to go out and thank the young fellows, they’ve moved on, leaving me smiling
broadly and my heart full with pleasure and hope abounding!
