Work 4 Peace,Hold All Life Sacred,Eliminate Violence! I am on my mobile version of the door-to-door, going town-to-town holding readings/gatherings/discussions of my book "But What Can I Do?" This is my often neglected blog mostly about my travels since 9/11 as I engage in dialogue and actions. It is steaming with my opinions, insights, analyses toward that end of holding all life sacred, dismantling the empire and eliminating violence while creating the society we want ALL to thrive in

mad voter pink tea party

bayarea codepink met last nite, after vigiling on the chilliest corner in berkeley, and decided we HAVE to do something about all this depression and despondency going 'round california & the bay area.
the very first time i heard one of our founders, starhawk, speak was the day congress was voting to give bush the right to go to war. she said that when we feel depression, helplessness, hopelessness - when we feel overwhelmed, like we can 't do anything or anything we do is not enuff - she said, when we feel like this, we have to stop and know that we are falling under the spell of those in power. she said that those in power are casting out a might spell and we are falling under it - those in power want/need us to feel powerless, depressed, etc. and we are NOT powerless, hopeless, etc. starhawk says we need to step back out of the spell's circle, and cast our own spell - of empowerment, action, victory!
so we decided we are going to begin to brew our own spell: we are going to gather mad voters and have a pink tea party! it is time to celebrate!! so many have stepped up to the plate and poured so much into defending our democracy, defeating bush, and spreading progressive ideals across this land, our country. sooooooooo many! we are going to hand out pink badges of courage to local activists who did so much prior to the election, and who continue to do so much.
stay tuned!!!!
