Work 4 Peace,Hold All Life Sacred,Eliminate Violence! I am on my mobile version of the door-to-door, going town-to-town holding readings/gatherings/discussions of my book "But What Can I Do?" This is my often neglected blog mostly about my travels since 9/11 as I engage in dialogue and actions. It is steaming with my opinions, insights, analyses toward that end of holding all life sacred, dismantling the empire and eliminating violence while creating the society we want ALL to thrive in

arnie wants cuts? we'll give him cuts

i've repainted the back of my truck today: arnie wants cuts? cut $$$ for bush's war - 26 billion; cut $$$ for special election - 80 million (3 million of that could fund salinas libaries for a year); cut tax cuts for the rich - gadzillions; cut deployment of the California National guard; cut arnie & his hummers; NOT education, NOT health care, NOT social services; 4:30p.m. sacramento may 25th

off to sacto today to join the huge anti-arnold rally on the steps of the state capitol building, once again. i think i've gone to sacramento more often these past few weeks then i did for many years of my california living combined.

the rally was AWESOME - the paper is reporting 10,000 people showed up - i think it was more. when we got to sacramento, we found a place to set up a codepink table. i heard a womon singing and from that moment on, i was sooooooo busy with folks interested in learning more or talking about codepink, that i couldn't hear a speaker or performer! thank the goddesses jackie came with me and a sacramento codepinker, bernadette, found & joined us staffing the table.

arnie is history. he has called teachers & nurses 'special interest' groups; he has attacked our tax base that pays for social services; he wants to get his dirty fingers on social security & retirement funds; he's aligned himself with corporate greed & the president's sucking up our monies for this horrific war.

probably half the folks that approached the table had never heard of codepink - what a difference from anti-war rallies. we got at least 3 pages of new folks signed up and we ran out of petitions to bring home the california national guard! that was exciting (we started signatures on the back....)

then we met with natalie in davis to make a plan for organizing davis & sacramento, getting on board for the campaign! natalie made an awesome vegitarian curry & plyed us with cookies, fruit, and sitting outside at the lake's edge, eating & sharing stories, ideas & strategies.
