Work 4 Peace,Hold All Life Sacred,Eliminate Violence! I am on my mobile version of the door-to-door, going town-to-town holding readings/gatherings/discussions of my book "But What Can I Do?" This is my often neglected blog mostly about my travels since 9/11 as I engage in dialogue and actions. It is steaming with my opinions, insights, analyses toward that end of holding all life sacred, dismantling the empire and eliminating violence while creating the society we want ALL to thrive in

Veggie oil bluezzzzz

I"ve changed my pre-filter three times since leafin Asheville...GRRRRRR...getting fewer and fewer miles on each clean filter. Challenging but I'm committed.

I thought my veg oil tank was cleaned on Monday when we worked on it, putting diesel inside the tank and swishing it around, then running it through the system until it came out clear diesel.

That obviously didn't work. When I put the dip stick into the aluminum tank, I'm hitting gunk on the bottom and not metal, which I normally hit.

Even though the veg oil guy that called himself cleaning my tank with diesel is a guy I trust, in fact, he installed my system 12 years ago and has always been at the end of a phone call, helping me through my veg oil challenges. But every other veg oil guy I talk with says you cannot clean a veg oil tank with just diesel: you have to open it up, pressure/steam clean with hot water plus scrub with a brush.

We didn't do any of that and I'm now paying the price. At least I've now figure out how to clean the screens - I'm simply boiling them with lots of soap, and then scrubbing with a toothbrush and they look like new! Cross fingers for tomorrow's journey into Columbus and a visit to another great old fierce dyke sistar!

Veggie oil blues....

I was only able to run 100 miles on veggie oil last nite. This morning, I checked the pre-filter and found it totally clogged. Fortunately the rest area I stopped at was only 8 miles from a Tractor Supply place so I was able to run there on diesel, stop in and buy the last two pre-filter cases and screens they had.

Here's a picture of the clogged screen I replaced on the side of the road. It is sitting on the engine with the new one already installed in the pre-filter case.

Cross fingers I'll be able to run the rest of the way to Ohio on veg oil
