Work 4 Peace,Hold All Life Sacred,Eliminate Violence! I am on my mobile version of the door-to-door, going town-to-town holding readings/gatherings/discussions of my book "But What Can I Do?" This is my often neglected blog mostly about my travels since 9/11 as I engage in dialogue and actions. It is steaming with my opinions, insights, analyses toward that end of holding all life sacred, dismantling the empire and eliminating violence while creating the society we want ALL to thrive in

Are the Democrats gonna buy this war???

Our Occupation Project will be launched Monday Feb 5th all over the country. We intend to occupy every Democratic – and those anti-war Republican – Congressperson’s office until they publicly commit to de-funding the war and bringing our troops home promptly.

Our attention and energy will be focused on holding our Congresspeople to the Mandate for Peace we gave them: they MUST defeat the upcoming vote for providing funding to continue the war. Monday we will begin to find out if Democrats are buying the war!

Many California Democrats are NOT buying the war: in fact, the women of California are leading us out of war. Barbara Lee, Maxine Waters, and Lynn Woolsey have authored HR508 designed to get us out of war within 6 months. The 4 major points of HR508 are 1) all troops and contractors return home within 6 months; 2) rescinds the bill that gave Bush the blanket authority to go to war without Congressional approval; 3) reparations to Iraqis; and 4) proper, quality healthcare for veterans.

We say FOLLOW THE WOMEN of California! Sign on to HR508!

Ellen Tauscher said yesterday that she will not support a ‘surge’ but she would vote to fund ‘continuing operations’ as long as our soldiers are on the ground! Call her office, thank her for her vote against the ‘surge’, and tell her she must NOT vote funds to continue the war; but vote funds to BRING our troops home NOW! 202-225-1880.

Better yet, visit her office – here in D.C. and in Walnut Creek, Antioch, and Fairfield. Ask her exactly what ‘operations’ are those that she is voting money for, against the will of the people?

Make signs: “Ellen, why are you buying the war?” Hold a “Peace-In” and occupy her office until she signs on to HR508 and until she publicly commits to defunding the war – NO MONEY for ‘continuing war operations’ against Iraq.

Repeat the Peace-In daily if possible – in ALL Democrats’ offices (and our Republican allies) – until they are all on-board.

We can do this. We HAVE to do this. Come to D.C. NOW! We have a house. We have room for women activists!

Come to D.C. she says when????

If you’re seriously considering coming to D.C., then please come by this Monday, Feb 5th. We need 30 women – we have 12! Only 18 more~!

You might have heard, we have been doing AWESOME actions all around the capitol – inside the Senate buildings, inside hearings in the Senate and the House buildings; in front of the Court House; in the offices of our elected officials – all over D.C., our hot CodePINK presence is being felt, treasured, and appreciated by most, and heeded by many.

We are building the pressure, the resistance. Yesterday, a couple of Senators told their colleagues the American people are angry and that anger is building, not dissipating, over the war against and occupation of Iraq!

We have gotten a shitload of press – from written AP, daily newspaper and weeklies to CNN, FOX, Democracy NOW, to the Hannady & Combs show!

Many women from around the country are stepping up to the plate and joining us. We need at least 18 more.

If you have ANY desire to come to D.C., please come this Monday so we can increase our national impact. What happens in D.C. on the 5th will set the trend for the nation.

We have over 150 Congresspeoples’ offices to visit daily for that week – some to “Peace-In”, others to drop off info re:HR508 and to return to frequently until we get the Congressperson’s commitment to sign on!

If we have 15 women, that’s 1 “Peace-In” and 9 offices each; if we have 30 women, that’s 1 “Peace-In” and 4.5 offices each! We can do it – but we need your help!
