Work 4 Peace,Hold All Life Sacred,Eliminate Violence! I am on my mobile version of the door-to-door, going town-to-town holding readings/gatherings/discussions of my book "But What Can I Do?" This is my often neglected blog mostly about my travels since 9/11 as I engage in dialogue and actions. It is steaming with my opinions, insights, analyses toward that end of holding all life sacred, dismantling the empire and eliminating violence while creating the society we want ALL to thrive in

BAAAAADDDD veggie oil

I decide to fill up on veggie oil today at Anthony New Mexico. I convince the owner to sell me the oil for $2/gallon - he had wanted $3! I'm thinking his oil must be gold to want that much.

I fill my main tank and one of the spare 55 gallon tanks. When I pull out of the parking lot, I can't make it the short distance to the freeway entrance. I pull over on a hill, facing downhill, and change my filters, which are filthy.

First I think, they are dirty because I haven't changed them once since leaving California. I get on the freeway and am unable to drive to the next exit on veggie oil. I return to the biodiesel place & the guys there agree to pump out the oil and then refuel thru a filter.

It takes three hours to pump out my tank and refill it through their filter. I HOPE it is a good filter - they are putting the oil thru a sock filter and an enclosed filter.

The boss/owner shows up as the sun is painting the desert sky deep reds, light pinks, vivid oranges and blues. He is pissed it is taking so much time. I am surprised he is pissed and not feeling responsible for selling me crud.

I enter Texas, unable to drive on veggie oil again. I do not want to spend the night near El Paso & Ciudada Juarez so I continue on diesel to just past Van Horn where there is a rest stop and a new wee hours of the morning, determined to rest & then figure out what to do tomorrow.
