Work 4 Peace,Hold All Life Sacred,Eliminate Violence! I am on my mobile version of the door-to-door, going town-to-town holding readings/gatherings/discussions of my book "But What Can I Do?" This is my often neglected blog mostly about my travels since 9/11 as I engage in dialogue and actions. It is steaming with my opinions, insights, analyses toward that end of holding all life sacred, dismantling the empire and eliminating violence while creating the society we want ALL to thrive in

Hangin' in Hermosillo!

Success! I found a free wifi café about 5 blocks from where I parked last nite – and I was able to communicate in both English and Spanish, although the guy spoke great English.

I then found the Universidad de Sonora and spoke with the lengua profesor Rebeka who will meet with me after her classes at 5:15 in her office so we can talk about teaching me espanol! I HOPE she will do it or knows of an intensive class I can take.

I also found a sushi restaurant who will give me their oil in a few days – if I understood him correctly, and he me.

I need to keep looking for oil but now I’m parked at the university with my door open in case someone wants to speak with me. I was going to park in front of Rebeka’s office and wait for her but it is not on campus and when I was getting ready to leave, a young womon Patricia ran up to me and began speaking excitedly in Spanish.

When she found out I could barely speak, should took my blog address and email and promised to email. I look forward to communicating with her.

Since I’ve been parked here, a group of young womyn have asked to take a picture of the truck, which they did. There is not much foot traffic here but I’ll be patient – I’m not really ready to converse deeply with anyone yet.

I will rest a little and then continue looking for aceite vegetal usar – which I hope means used vegetable oil!

I have survived!

I have survived the nite unscathed! Broken rules et al.

I wake with the sun and have made my coffee already. I check the water leak on the floor and as I suspected, it must have just been a spill probably when I hit that last speed bump (ha! Speed mountain is more accurate) and not damaged tank or hose.

I read AAA’s tour book that incredibly makes no mention of immersion schools or even hints for learning Spanish.

It does however explain about toll roads vs non-toll roads and as soon as I find and filter enough oil, I’ll head for the non-toll roads. Unless I find an immersion school here.

I will head out and see what I can find.
