Work 4 Peace,Hold All Life Sacred,Eliminate Violence! I am on my mobile version of the door-to-door, going town-to-town holding readings/gatherings/discussions of my book "But What Can I Do?" This is my often neglected blog mostly about my travels since 9/11 as I engage in dialogue and actions. It is steaming with my opinions, insights, analyses toward that end of holding all life sacred, dismantling the empire and eliminating violence while creating the society we want ALL to thrive in

Bloodroot: the BEST reading ever!!!!

I am sooooo humbled and thankful to Selma and Noel for allowing me to read at their beautiful, feminist, vegan restaurant - a 41 year old establishment that taught us, amongst many other things, that womyn CAN do it for ourselves!

Just being where the ghosts of our fierce foremothers as Audre Lorde and Adrienne Rich and even Mary Daly once sat and read and raised consciousness and empowered womyn with their words, was enough to send me into bliss.

But when 6 or 7 young radical feminist lesbians joined the crowd, I was beside myself with pleasure and excitement. And these brilliant, out-spoken, passionate young womyn did not disappoint. Selma and Noel introduced them as their granddaughters! And what amazing granddaughters they are.

It was so different and rewarding for radical lesbian feminists to be in public in the majority and not silenced by others nor afraid to use their voices, and use them they did. And here at my reading/gathering/discussion today at Bloodroot!

I will always cherished this memory and hope to return again soon - if for no other reason to connect with these womyn and eat this delicious, vegan, organic food!

Bloodroot also has another cookbook out, which is much more than just a mere cookbook! Check it out at http://www.bloodroot.com/

Bloodroot and BEST reading ever!

I had the VERY best reading today at the wonderful Bloodroot feminist restaurant for so many reasons.

First the incredible amazon warriors and foremothers (now grandmothers), Selma and Noel, created as a collective and kept this amazing vegan and vegetarian restaurant afloat for over FOUR decades, paving the way when womyn barely owned any business, let alone a lesbian and feminist business!

Then, to be able to read where probably every well-known lesbian author of the past four decades has shared her work - to sit on a chair that might have been occupied by Andre Lorde or Adrienne Rich or any other of our foremothers! What an honor!

But today the voices of radical lesbian feminists - and young radical lesbian feminists - were not just the loudest, but were in the majority! These young womyn were brilliant, vocal, able and willing to step forward and step up into leadership positions - and I felt so immensely proud to witness this generation's awakening and embracing of and springing off from the herstory we worked so hard at creating for ourselves and for the future generations - these young womyn's - survival and thriving!
