Code Pink Journals CodePINK Journals

Work 4 Peace,Hold All Life Sacred,Eliminate Violence! I am on my mobile version of the door-to-door, going town-to-town holding readings/gatherings/discussions of my book "But What Can I Do?" This is my often neglected blog mostly about my travels since 9/11 as I engage in dialogue and actions. It is steaming with my opinions, insights, analyses toward that end of holding all life sacred, dismantling the empire and eliminating violence while creating the society we want ALL to thrive in

Meanwhile, back at the ranch.....

Several more awesome CodePINK wimmin have arrived: Julia from Chicago, Annie from Santa Cruz, Nancy from Tucson, Cindi from Washington, Marie from Lake Tahoe, Mary Ann from Houston, Julia from Chicago.

And of course, Celeste from Petaluma has been here for several days prepping the house and taking care of details!

Celeste has gone shopping for us and has been cooking. We share a delicious mostly organic, mostly vegan meal along with sharp, intense, compassionate conversation spate with strategy, analysis, and ideas for our actions here in D.C.

I am filled with such hope and inspiration, sharing meals, political ideas, and getting to know these wimmin who will be acting to make herstory during the next few days and weeks.

The HOT PINK SURGE is escalating!

We met again tonite at the Café Al-Fishawee.

Sharp anticipation, excitement, and determination dissipate the frigid air clinging to our bundled outerwear as we enter the hot cafe. At least 30 or 40 CodePINKers are here, working hard on getting the Walk In Their Shoes installation ready for tomorrow.

There are 4 huge pieces of pink plexiglas lying on the ground with names of killed Iraqis written on the sides. Wimmin are gluing the edges so we can make a huge box. The shoes, each tagged with the name of an dead Iraq womon, child, or man, will be placed into the box tomorrow at the installation on the Mall – 3rd and Madison at noon!

The shoes will be places inside the box as someone reads the names and any other information we have.

I do not stay too long – we have lots of details to work out at the house, futons to pick up, food to buy, beds to make!

Tons of CodePINKers have been working hard on getting all of this together, and we’re doing it! We are making herstory. Join us – you won’t be sorry!

Demons and Demonstrations

Our energy was temporarily distracted last nite and this morning from our work ending war - we have chosen to focus our energy to help care for an emotionally-challenged womon who recently joined CodePINK and has come to D.C.

Still several wimmin – not enough – were able to attend hearings on the escalation in Iraq, which shockingly, Joe Lieberman appears to be supporting.

It seems unconscionable – again & again over these past few years – to have to convince ANYONE, let alone Democrats, that we will NOT tolerate any escalation of the occupation of Iraq – but please call (202) 224-4041 Voice, (202) 224-9750 Fax and tell him so. Call everyone and tell them.

Better yet, go to your Congressperson’s Office and hold a “Peace-In” – get your Congressperson to commit to voting NO MORE FUNDS for continuing war in Iraq; ask them to make a public statement saying they will vote ONLY for funds returning our soldiers promptly and safely. Ask them to sign on to HR508!

Do your Peace-In until they sign on!

We have our work cut out for us here in D.C., but we will not, must not be distracted. We cannot argue about escalation, about Iran, about Gay Marriage or Women's Rights; we must focus all our energy on ending this war NOW, bringing our troops home NOW.

If we don't end war NOW, we will not have to worry about our rights - we will not have a world.
