Work 4 Peace,Hold All Life Sacred,Eliminate Violence! I am on my mobile version of the door-to-door, going town-to-town holding readings/gatherings/discussions of my book "But What Can I Do?" This is my often neglected blog mostly about my travels since 9/11 as I engage in dialogue and actions. It is steaming with my opinions, insights, analyses toward that end of holding all life sacred, dismantling the empire and eliminating violence while creating the society we want ALL to thrive in

Radical Anti-racism Feminist

Rebecca has erased her earlier entry and instead has written this:

my concern is solely for the welfare, support and benefit for woman and girls globally.
because i do not care about the oppressor class makes me racist? nope it makes me a radical feminist--and nowhere in the definition of feminism does it include fighting for mens rights.
MEN ARE MEN. when you fight for men here or anywhere you are supporting the very people that harm women. according to your logic, that makes you a misogynist.

My response:

I understand and do you not understand that smashing racism is NOT about men's rights??? It is my SOLE concern for the welfare, support and benefit for womyn and girls globally also that I KNOW white womyn need to, have to come to terms with our racism. Until then, white womyn ARE a part of the oppressor class - that is my whole point - we are advantaged by racism in so many huge and tiny ways, like men are advantaged by misogyny and have no idea to the extent they are advantaged, we have little to no idea how ingrained racism is in our beings, our life styles, our privileges and superiority – and in our world view of ourselves and of Black and brown womyn.

And until we disengage, untangle, relinquish, destroy racism on a daily if not hourly basis, white womyn remain part of the oppressor class no matter how ‘different’ we think we are, how ‘poor’ we claim to be, how much we wish and hope and protest ‘not me’. And no matter how much we believe it is only men who oppress womyn, including ourselves. Racism oppresses Black and brown womyn IN ADDITION to sexism and misogyny – surely you can see that. ALL white people are granted that ability by the color of our skin.

I hold ALL men accountable - as much as you do - for their sexism, misogyny, violence against womyn and children, as you are well aware. And as all white people who live under patriarchy are racist, all men who live under patriarchy are sexist.

As committed as white womyn are to demolishing misogyny, we need to be equally committed to abolishing racism. And please do not go there to say this is about allowing Black and brown men to escape accountability for their sexism: it is not.

White womyn have such a fantastic opportunity in fact to role model for all people how to take responsibility for the 'ism' that has privileged us and destroyed others, how to recognize and smash that 'ism' and in the process of eliminating racism, how to regain our humanity. Whether that advantageous ‘ism’ is ableism, classism, ageism, anti-semitism, heterosexism – you know the intersectionality of oppressions.

Again, thank you Rebecaa for continuing this conversation. Much love
