Work 4 Peace,Hold All Life Sacred,Eliminate Violence! I am on my mobile version of the door-to-door, going town-to-town holding readings/gatherings/discussions of my book "But What Can I Do?" This is my often neglected blog mostly about my travels since 9/11 as I engage in dialogue and actions. It is steaming with my opinions, insights, analyses toward that end of holding all life sacred, dismantling the empire and eliminating violence while creating the society we want ALL to thrive in

white women and their tongues!

I didn’t pull out of D.C. until almost noon this morning – I had my last pick-up just south of D.C. in Virginia. This time I’m taking 95 south to 85 south to Atlanta.

So I get to drive thru Virginia again – and once again, I’m totally thrilled to count more than 43 yeahs! And only 2 fuck you’s and two thumbs down. One car with a white mother & daughter team, made a sign on notebook paper in red ballpoint pen that said “you suck”. I had to laugh as I grabbed my ‘nice christian’ sign and held it up for them. The daughter stuck her middle finger out the window in response. Okay.

It is dark by the time I get to North Carolina so I only notice 3 yeahs, one fuck you, and one vigorous shake of the head no.

An older white woman, a cloud of permed yellowing hair surrounding her freckled face, stuck her tongue out at me from the passenger’s seat, squinting her eyes and jutting out her chin as she passed. Again I had to laugh out loud.

Sticking out her tongue and making ugly faces seems to be the worse thing older white women can fathom doing - besides giving me the finger. White men, on the other hand, seem to think calling me a faggot is the worse thing they can fathom doing - at least while we're driving down the road.

Every time I stop, either at a gas station or rest stop, young women of color come up to me to thank me for speaking the truth. One tells me my message gives her the courage to speak out; another says she likes my truck and, as I speak the truth, she loves me because she loves truth.
