Babies with guns birthing babies
Who can love the military? What kind of mentality are we allowing to reign.
6000 feet above sea level, and the air is crisp, the river is the loudest noise here - not counting the bikers roar that drowns out everything - the birds are cooing and singing their songs, a gentle breeze softens the intense heat of the early morning sun rapidly warming the cold nights air.
Still no evidence on bears, although they should be roaming freely in their last minute gorge preparing for winter's hibernation - but there's plenty of evidence of hunters, this time with bows, searching to make themselves feel powerful as they crave the violent bursting of blood onto the ground, the surge of adrenaline as they must imagine themselves god to snatch life's breath from helpless animals who's death by their hands makes them feel so very powerful.
As always, it is so very difficult to wrap my mind around the mentality that believes in murdering life for the "sport" of it: i.e. for the superiority and power over another creature they, these white males & their comrades, are addicted to.
And how have we, those of us who have compassion still, who critically think, who pride ourselves with some kind of awareness, how are we able to continue our lives accepting this practice - better yet, accepting the "rewards" of centuries of this practice, building our lives around the "rewards" of this practice?
My heart continues to ache this morning: for the deer, the bears, the animals fleeing the array of arrows, bullets, poisons invading their homes; for my grandchild and his mother; for myself and my vanquishing.
