Work 4 Peace,Hold All Life Sacred,Eliminate Violence! I am on my mobile version of the door-to-door, going town-to-town holding readings/gatherings/discussions of my book "But What Can I Do?" This is my often neglected blog mostly about my travels since 9/11 as I engage in dialogue and actions. It is steaming with my opinions, insights, analyses toward that end of holding all life sacred, dismantling the empire and eliminating violence while creating the society we want ALL to thrive in

Nite of the Zombie Police

I was driving home tonite on I80 from Richmond to Berkeley around 9:30pm. It was so surreal - traffic was heavy, moving, but everyone on either side of me was paced one vehicle behind the other, no one going faster (but me) or slower, like they were attached by invisible cord.

Then I noticed who they were:
cop cars. cop trucks. cop trailers. and more cop cars.

I read the signs:
Vallejo. Fairfield. Vacaville.

command center. control center. first response.

emergency. transport. armored trucks. trailers.

some with just symbols; some unmarked.

but steady streams of police. after police. after police.

Very foreboding as they stealthy crept along, not breaking rank, stretching for over 4 miles until I turned off.

I was hoping some huge disaster was happening like a rupture in the ocean floor and the police were heading off to take care of it. Yet I was dreading they were heading to Oakland to perpetuate more violence.

I fervently hope that no more young - or old - men or women are physically hurt tonite or in the coming days.

And I hope we will all work to end the violence and help each other survive, and heal from this violence of anti-justice and racism.
