Work 4 Peace,Hold All Life Sacred,Eliminate Violence! I am on my mobile version of the door-to-door, going town-to-town holding readings/gatherings/discussions of my book "But What Can I Do?" This is my often neglected blog mostly about my travels since 9/11 as I engage in dialogue and actions. It is steaming with my opinions, insights, analyses toward that end of holding all life sacred, dismantling the empire and eliminating violence while creating the society we want ALL to thrive in

another freezing day in n.j.

spent the nite in n.j. at lorie's, my sister's daughter. i took sheree to the hospital for an mri last nite - the cancer has advanced into her bones - she's been doing chemotherapy & radiation and who konws what else to fight this awful disease - and to fight for her life. she has moved in w/her daughter & is sleeping in the living room - a very pleasant broadly-windowed yellow room on the bottom floor of lorie's town-house condo, overlooking a snow-covered bank to the delaware river. with the bare trees covered in icycles, she can look at the chunks of snowy ice swirling around in the waters below. skinny squirrels scurry around, searching for the treats lorie leaves for them on the little porch. sheree is pleased with her new digs!
i leave my truck parked at sheree's old apartment & drive her car this morning, first back to the hospital w/sheree to get her shot, and then to the train station to race off to nyc. i visit lilo, my 85 year old 'aunt' and then hook up w/rae at the second avenue deli!!! yummy!! we head to the east village to view a documentary made by a canadian womon "an army of one". it is stark & intense - she follows 3 soldiers after 9/11 from the time they join the army to one year later: one deserts, one goes to iraq, and one gets an early honorable discharge. it is totally worth viewing. we meet up w/laurie, the awesome codepink womon we worked w/in florida. she races (for laurie) us to the train station so we can catch the next train back to new jersey - we don't get to visit too much, tears!
at sheree's, i do laundry, rae packs & repacks, and we get a few hours of sleep before we have to head our seperate ways tomorrow: rae to nyc & me back to sunny (thank the goddesses) california!!!! peace, sam
